Just down the strip from sister motel Best Western Thurnderbird, this motel is one of the rediscovered gems of Kitsch Americana. Built in 1954, it boasts an iconic neon sign and a chintzy tropical lobby swimming in rattan furniture. It, too, boasts a tiki bar and courtyard swimming pool, where ageing housewives bake on old-school sun loungers. There's a whiff of faded glory in the air - shuffleboard anyone? - but it has not descended into seediness.
