The Albion has a couple of claims to fame: it's owned by the Rubell clan (of Studio 54, Morgans and Royalton fame) and the streamlined nautical building was designed by art deco master Igor Polevitzky in 1939. This incarnation of the hotel was opened in 1997 and it feels slightly dated. But it still possesses a certain South Beach panache, with slick interiors by Ecuadorian designer Carlos Zapata and a stylish bar. The stark white lobby is enlivened by splashes of colour; glass walls overlook a courtyard and pool. Rooms wear the design mag uniform: crisp white bedding and Barcelona chairs. It's next to Lincoln Road shopping and the beach is not far. For hipsters, it's an affordable alternative to the Delano.
