Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts review

After many delays, a budget overrun, and a few name changes, this spectacular $500m Cesar Pelli creation is now open - but not without controversy. The striking postmodern architecture is alone worth a visit. But its avant-garde style has divided critics, and worse, the venue has been losing money; it's the second-largest concert hall in the US, but sceptics say it lacks the steady supply of culture vultures to consistently fill the seats. Still, it's early days. And it is the home of the Florida Grand Opera, the Miami City Ballet, and occasionally hosts the New World Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra. Musicals, world music gigs and children's shows also feature.
