A vintage slice of Americana, Miami's oldest diner is cool without even trying. The retro decor is deeply fab, from the red Formica counter and bar stools to the ancient gumball machine and old Western Union clock - pure film noir. There's even a wisecracking, seen-it-all-before waitress pouring coffee to the motley crew: hookers and truckers, doctors and lawyers, club kids. The food is cheap - and comforting: chilli con carne, meat loaf with gravy, veal schnitzel, split pea soup and the famous cheeseburger with fries. God bless America.
