The STRAF is an upmarket hotel run by the family that manages the Grand Hotel et de Milan. The ultra-modern, minimalist rooms have metallic, industrial overtones, and are equipped with electronic and audio-visual amenities galore. Its central location makes the hotel ideal for shopping, but the weight of the bags won't get you down: the hotel offers an energy boost in the form of in-room mini-spas, Japanese massage chairs, chromotherapy and aromatherapy. And for all its chi-chi atmosphere, the STRAF is a remarkably good deal for its category. Other attractions include the excellent breakfast buffet and cooler-than-thou hotel bar.
The bar is frequented by staff from the Galleria's highend boutiques. It's a seriously well-dressed crowd who form the smoker's corner outside The Straf's hotel bar. Wheels of Parmesan and trayloads of crostini are wheeled out for the 6-9pm happy hour. Only the passé order a G&T here: instead, try a red berry caipiroska or a champagne mojito.

We spent 3 lovely nights here while in Milan. Location could not be better... short walks to the duomo, Peck and too many shops to count. Great service and the rooms are ultra-hip. Not cheap by any standard, but worth the money for what you get.
