Long a stopover for visitors on their way to the Lakes or Piedmont, Milan has started to attract more attention, particularly since it hosted the World Expo in 2015. The city has its fair share of architectural wonders both old and new; beautiful buildings, enchanting churches and, perhaps most importantly, a sense of style, home as it is to some of the world’s best design firms and fashion houses.
Adding to its appeal is the relative ease with which you can visit most attractions, restaurants and other points of interest in this relatively compact city, a product of Milan’s flat terrain and extensive tram, metro and bus lines.
