A favourite with 19th-century British travellers, Parker's has a long and august history. Despite some dark days (it was requisitioned by troops during World War II, and damaged by the 1980 earthquake), the building has now been restored to its original grandeur. Crystal chandeliers, antiques, paintings and statues abound, and there's a library of antique volumes. The rooms are lavishly furnished and comfortably equipped, and there's a plush spa. The two restaurants (one on the roof terrace) serve good international food. Specify when booking to ensure you get a room with the famous view.
