National Museum of Mathematics Birthday Parties

  • Price band: 3/4

Gone are the days when math was relegated to blackboards and textbooks--at these parties it comes to life, with themes such as GeoGlow, where partygoers use geometry to construct a giant glow-in-the-dark polyhedron (that's a multifaceted 3-D shape, for you non-geometry whizzes). Or, by applying math skills, they could fashion a structure from tubes and rubber balls. Another option is using megaplex pieces to craft some geometric spaces so giant that kids may enter . Kids party for 90 minutes in a private room, and can spend the rest of the day checking out the museum for free. Additional charges will cover pizza and drinks, goody bags or upgraded party favors, a specialty cake and custom invitations. For an extra fee, a Team Challenge will take party guests inside the museum for a contest. Ages 3 and up.

Producers, directors, and party helpers lead guests in acting games before shooting the movie. While the starlets munch on pizza, cake and concession stand treats, a crew edits the footage and adds special effects before the big debut, which kids get to watch. A Royalty on the Red Carpet party lets 2- to 5–year-olds exercise their creativity not by movie making but by crafting a fairy tale with professional actors. This interactive princess fete culminates with a royal tea event and a coronation ceremony. With yet another option, the Grammy Awards package, guests party away, adorned in costumes and accessorized with props and instruments, amid a professional karaoke setup with a DJ, lights and a sound system— as they are joined by backup dancers. There’s also an Improv Bash option. Ages 3 to 12.
