If your kids are fascinated with history, the American Museum of Natural History's "Mummies" exhibition is a must-see. Opening March 20 and originally housed at the Field Museum in Chicago, this unique exhibit brings real, rarely-seen mummies from ancient Egypt, Peru and the Nile Valley of Africa to light.

Visitors will learn about rituals for mummifying the deceased, and with the help of advanced technology and CT scans, you'll even be able to see forensically reconstructed images and sculptures, learn about the lives these mummified specimens led and even their causes of death. You'll also explore the current technology and DNA testing used to discover even more clues about ancient cultures.

Full disclosure: You might want to have very young ones sit this one out—you'll have the opportunity to virtually "unravel" the mummies, which might be scary to some! But don't worry, as there are plenty of cool kids' museums and amazing exhibits to visit around town.
