Carnival Cruise Lines

Taking the entire clan on a cruise is the perfect idea for a family vacation—think great youth programs (dance parties, game nights), top-notch family entertainment and unlimted food. Plus, these cruise lines now set sail to places like Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Florida right from the New York City area.

Carnival
Excursions on the Carnival Miracle include ports of call to Puerto Rico. A show based on Hasbro's popular games is a crowd-pleaser for all. The Carnival Miracle sails from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (Twelfth Ave at 55th St). Go to carnival.com for details.

Disney
Mickey, Minnie and crew are coming to NYC. Sailing to Florida, New England, Canada or private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas, the Disney Magic sports one of the best youth programs around. When not hobnobbing with their favorite characters, kids can climb through Captain Hook's pirate ship and sing Hannah Montana tunes at a family karaoke night. Make sure to bring along your tyke's dress-up costumes; special themed dinners (princess, pirate) take place throughout the week. The Disney Magic sails from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (Twelfth Ave at 55th St). Go to disneycruises.com for details.

Norwegian
While cruising to sunny spots like the Bahamas and Florida on the Norwegian Gem, kids enjoy Nickelodeon-themed activities including breakfast with SpongeBob SquarePants and Diego, a dance party with Dora, and Nick Jr. storytime sessions. The Norwegian Gem sails from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (Twelfth Ave at 55th St). Go to ncl.com for details.

Royal Caribbean
On the Explorer of the Seas, which sails to the Caribbean, sporty families can rock climb and play mini golf. At the Adventure Beach area, little ones have full rein over the kids' pool. The Explorer of the Sea sails from Cape Liberty Cruise Port, 14 Port Terminal Blvd, Bayonne, NJ. Go to royalcaribbean.com for details.
