Queen of toddler rock Laurie Berkner is hard at work prepping for her , but she took a few moments to share some little-known facts about herself—including the condiment she won't leave home without.
"After having a daughter, I realized I'd never written a song with even a mention of a princess! I'm writing songs now for my next DVD [slated for an early 2011 release], and one of them references royalty."
"These days my favorite song to perform is 'My Family,' because there's such a big response from the audience. I get a really good feeling playing it. Over the years, I've always liked playing 'Buzz, Buzz,' with its quiet, minor-key start, before the kids jump up with me."
"I saw Grease 11 times in movie theaters. And for my 12th birthday, my friends and I traveled to the city from Princeton, New Jersey, to see West Side Story in an old-style theater with red velvet curtains."
"Recently I was caught staring at an actor who played one of the FBI agents on The Sopranos, saying 'Oh my gosh, look! There's the guy from The Sopranos!' Then he shouted out from his car 'Hey, my kids love you!'"
"When we play a venue we request flaxseed oil and ume plum vinegar, which I like on pretty much everything—including dinner foods like rice and steamed greens, and other vegetables that I enjoy for breakfast. In case they can't find the vinegar, I usually have a small bottle of it in our gig bag."
