Time Out says

Originally a vaudeville and movie palace called the Loew's 175th Street Theatre, this rococo venue was purchased and restored in 1969 by Reverend Ike and his United Church Science of Living Institute. More recently, local megapromoters have booked top acts here, from Bob Dylan, Neil Young and the Allman Brothers Band to Sonic Youth, Björk and Vampire Weekend.
