FRIDAY, APRIL 20

Earth Day Indoors at Grand Central Terminal
The Big Apple's most famous station showcases green technology, sustainable fashion, and other displays and activity stations by eco-friendly brands like Toshiba, Anvil and Odwalla that encourage New Yorkers to become more conscious consumers. Fri Apr 20 10am--7pm. Grand Central Terminal, Main Concourse. Free. All ages.

Earth Day in Times Square
It may seem a bit ironic to celebrate Earth Day in NYC's brightest district. Nevertheless, this street celebration features entertainment, speakers, and green companies and sponsors. This year's highlight is the CO2 E Drive, a cavalcade featuring green modes of transportation that trace the letter E (for this year's Earth Day slogan, "Be the E") on their drive through the neighborhood. Fri Apr 20 11am--4pm. Times Square, Broadway between 42nd and 47th Sts (earthdayny.org). Subway: N, Q, R, 42nd St S, 1, 2, 3, 7 to 42nd St--Times Sq. Free. All ages.

Stories, Songs and Activities That Celebrate Our Earth
Storyteller Regina Ress performs during this afternoon of stories and songs from native cultures around the world, all of which express the bond between Earth and its inhabitants. Fri Apr 20 at 4pm. New York Public Library, South Beach branch, 21-25 Robin Rd at Ocean Ave, Staten Island (718-816-5834, nypl.org). Travel: From Staten Island Ferry, take the S51 bus to Ocean Ave and Father Capodanno Blvd. Free. Ages 5 and up.
