Amazing Bronx River Flotilla

SUNDAY, MAY 6

Annual Hippo Playground Spring Fair
Sure, this park has a particular theme, but there's plenty more to do than just play on the hippo sculptures during the annual Hippo Playground fund-raiser. Pony rides, bouncy castles, a petting zoo, games and a cupcake-decorating contest will all be part of the fun. While entry is free, ticket proceeds go toward maintaining the park. Sun May 6 10am--4pm. Riverside Park, Hippo Playground. Free. All ages.

Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival
Whether you're shopping for household items (pottery, furniture, hand-blown glass) or taking the kids to get their faces painted, there will be plenty to keep everyone occupied at this open-air arts fest, which features more than 300 sculptors, artists, photographers and craftspeople, plus three stages of live music. Sun May 6 11am--6pm. Washington St between Observer Hwy and 7th St, Hoboken, NJ (201-420-2207, hobokennj.org). Travel: PATH train to Hoboken. Free. All ages.

Queens County Farm Museum Farm Festival
There's something for everyone at this homestead, the only working historical farm in the state. Kids will love the sheep shearing demonstrations, hayrides and pony rides. Parents will dig the plant sale, historic house tours and local artisanal fare. Sun May 6 11am--4pm. Queens County Farm Museum. $5. All ages.

New York City Irish Dance Festival
The jig is up (and so are the hornpipe, reel and other steps) at this Gaelic dance celebration offering performances by Niall O'Leary and other top hoofers—plus language lessons, dance workshops, face painting and seisins (music circles). The event doubles as the kickoff for the season-long Summer on the Hudson Festival. Sun May 6 1--8pm. W 66th St at the Hudson River (212-408-0219, irishartscenter.org). Subway: 1 to 66th St--Lincoln Ctr; 1, 2, 3 to 72nd St. Free. All ages.
