For all those budding cowboys and cowgirls out there, you’ll be happy to know that there are quite a few spots for horseback riding in NYC. The kids will love learning how to saddle up and ride a horse. They might be big, but they can be gentle and friendly, offering a great opportunity for kids to get some fresh air and bond with animals.

These NYC stables offer lessons, riding sessions and even guided trots. There are pony rides for the littlest ones, horsemanship programs for teens and birthday party options. Horseback riding can be therapeutic too. Some spots offer therapeutic riding programs, and fees from their other services support therapeutic offerings.

When you want to giddyup with the kids, check out these NYC horseback riding options. For other options, check out our list of outdoor activities for kids, indoor activities for kids and family-friendly activities and attractions.
