Broadway musicals don a kid-friendly mantle during these interactive shows for budding theater fanatics. First up: Children explore the iconic (Jan 8 at 11am) through songs from Strike Up the Band and Girl Crazy. Showbiz icon gets the kid treatment next (Feb 5 at 11am), with child-oriented versions of Into the Woods and Follies. Expect games and sing-alongs at both sessions. Merkin Concert Hall, 129 W 67th St between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave (212-501-3330, merkinconcerthall.org). $20. Ages 4 to 11.
Kids' Night on Broadway
For the 16th year in a row, kids ages six to 18 are treated to a free Broadway or Off Broadway show when their parents purchase a full-price ticket; choose from favorites like Mary Poppins, Anything Goes and Traces. Ticket holders are also invited to a special pretheater party at Madame Tussauds New York on February 7. We hear that Nick Jonas, who begins his run in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in January, will be there. Feb 5--9; go to kidsnightonbroadway.com for information.
