See the annual free Theatreworks USA show

Every summer (this year marks the 25th anniversary!), Theatreworks USA presents one free off-broadway show. The catch? Tickets go quickly and can only be obtained onsite one hour before curtain time. This year's production is a The Civil War, musical that follows the Lincoln zeitgeist, centering around the American Civil War but told through the perspectives of many different characters fighting for opposing sides. Ages 9 and up.

Celebrate Bastille Day on 60th Street

The fireworks from the Fourth of July have barely cooled, but midtown is ready to celebrate France’s Independence Day with face painting, can-can dancers, live music, pétanque, and wine-and-cheese tastings for Mom and Dad. Honor the uptown nabe's rich culture at Harlem Week

Enjoy the last stretch of summer by celebrating Harlem's rich culture at the NYC Children's Festival, an annual event that promises live music, dance troupes, step shows, double-dutch competitions, arts and crafts and storytelling. Laugh at tales told by the Story Pirates

Watch this wacky comedy troupe transform kids' submitted stories into a hilarious improv show at Hudson River Park. They take requests and ideas from the crowd, so audience participation is a must. Ages 1 to 12.
