Staten Island
Chelsea Playground
400 Chelsea Rd at South Ave, Staten Island (718-761-7529, chelseaplaygroundny.com). Travel: From the Staten Island Ferry, take the Staten Island Railway to New Dorp. Open play Mon–Wed 10am–6pm, Thu–Sat 10am–8pm, Sun 11am–7pm. $10 per child per day, $5 per adult per day. Most little ones prefer to hang out in the play space's kids village, where they can dress up as firemen or ballerinas, go "shopping" and put on shows for admiring parents. A rock-climbing wall and three levels of tunnels and slides keep children occupied after the dress-up sessions grow tiresome. Ages 6 months to 8 years.
