15th annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival

The Year of the Horse kicked off with a bang on Friday, January 31, and two days later, just in time for the 15th annual Lunar New Year Parade & Festival, temperatures soared, giving the crowds in Chinatown even more to celebrate. Click through our photographs, above, and video, below, to take in some of the festive afternoon's sights. If you couldn't make it there in person, cheer up, because a slew of Lunar New Year celebrations are taking place this weekend as well, most notably an amazing day of Asian art, music and performances for families at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the annual Flushing Lunar New Year Parade on Saturday, which is even older than Manhattan Chinatown's.
