LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park

Prospect Park's new LeFrak Center at Lakeside skating complex, which we got a sneak peek at earlier this week, not only opens to the public for the first time today but is also pulling out all the stops to celebrate the occasion on its opening weekend, December 21-22. On tap for Saturday are song-and-dance workshops with Brooklyn Children's Theater, ice-cream making with Ample Hills Creamery (one of our fave ice cream shops!), an origami class with Taro's Origami, and arts and crafts courtesy of the Wildlife Conservation Society. We also hear that performances by kid faves Rolie Polie Guacamole, Mil's Trills, Soul Tigers and the Brooklyn Youth Marching Band are on the weekend roster too in addition to special ice-skating, hockey and curling demos, plus free face painting and a Disney on Ice giveaway (dates and times for these had not yet been determined at press time). The $8 weekend rink admission per person ($6 on weekdays) includes tax and unlimited skating for the day.
