FREE Amble Through the RambleTour
Tue Apr 19 at noon. Meet at Belvedere Castle, Central Park, midpark at 79th St (212-772-0210, centralparknyc.org). Subway: C to 72nd St; 6 to 77th St.

Head over to Belvedere Castle, where a park ranger will lead a walking tour of the 38-acre woodland retreat known as the Ramble. In the middle of the world's most famous iron-and-steel metropolis, nature (with some help from Vaux and Olmstead) has created a tranquil layout of trees, streams and paths. All ages.

FREE Blooming Naturalists
Tue Apr 19 1--4pm. Audubon Center at the Boathouse, Prospect Park, enter at Ocean Ave and Lincoln Rd, Brooklyn (718-965-8999, prospectpark.org). Subway: B, Q, Franklin Ave S to Prospect Park.
Kids can follow their natural instincts on their quest to discover plant and animal life in the park. The budding wildlife experts will make nature journals and learn tools of the trade. Ages 6 and up.

FREE Spring Sprouts
Tue Apr 19 1--4pm. Lefferts Historic House, Flatbush Ave at Empire Blvd, Prospect Park, Brooklyn (prospectpark.org). Subway: B, Q, Franklin Ave S to Prospect Park.
Celebrate the (relatively) warm weather with this seed-planting workshop. Kids will learn all about the nascent shoots, from how they grow to which types can be planted at home. Then they'll make crafty creations using seeds. Ages 3 and up.

FREE Target Design Kids: Design Tales
Tue Apr 19 at 3pm. Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, 2 E 91st St at Fifth Ave (212-849-8400, cooperhewitt.org). Subway: 4, 5, 6 to 86th St; 6 to 96th St.
Each week the museum offers design-oriented activities for toddlers and their caregivers. Stories, scavenger hunts and other gallery games introduce little ones to the works on view. Registration required. Ages 2 to 4.

FREE French-Language Storytime at Book Culture

Want your petit fleur to pick up some Franais? Native speaker Jesse leads a popular weekly story hour in the Romance language. French children's books are also available for sale. Ages 2 to 6.
