P.S. 3 ArtPark

If browsing art galleries isn't your little ones' idea of a good time, hightail it over to P.S. 3 ArtPark, a pop-up art installation–and–play space hybrid open through this Sunday, March 30. The indoor park, temporarily located at 350 West Broadway (between Broome and Grand Sts) in Soho, features work from various artists that's been curated by Laurie De Chiara of ArtPod, a nonprofit promoting interactive art for various age groups.

Stepping away from the "look, don't touch" mentality of traditional galleries, the space allows young visitors to let loose and get hands-on with the artwork and installations. Climbing a graffiti-covered wall, throwing balls at a "sound mobile" and mixing up drinks using various color from the spectrum are a few of the activities on offer for budding art lovers. The exhibition, which opened last weekend, has a suggested admission of $5 (all proceeds support programming at P.S. 3) and is open to the public between noon and 6pm daily, closing out with an Arts Festival this Sunday. Tykes will have the chance to jump in on workshops throughout the day, including a collaborative flash mob dance, puppet-making and fairy-home building. Workshops are $10 each, per child—register online ahead of time to secure a spot for your child!

In addition to the exhibition, the PTA-sponsored event will also feature an art auction to raise money for the school's art and music programs, as well as the teacher and recess aides at P.S. 3. Works from over 30 artists will be on display during the exhibit, and will be available online for bidding through April 5.
