The Philharmonic's strings section will take (very) little ones on a musical romp combining games and hands-on music-making. Designed with the hlp of faculty from Columbia University's Teacher College, each concert has its own theme. Use your imaginations at "Make-Believe" (Feb 8–9) and explore how to build sound and create songs at "Building Blocks" (March 22–23). Tots and parents will watch the orchestra play classical scores like Mozart's Horn Quintet in E-flat major, then join in on games and interactive storytelling—featuring tales and illustrations of Philippe the Penguin—to keep the musical inspiration going. Using instruments like violins, cellos and harps, the stories spark little ones' imaginations and leave them humming long after the performance. Stick around afterward for the chance to touch (and try!) some of the instruments. Ages 3–6.
