LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park

We've been excited about the LeFrak Center at Lakeside since the skating rink makeover was announced two years ago, and well before we knew what the new complex would be called. At long last the ribbon was cut on the $74 million LeFrak Center on the morning of December 17, and we got a sneak peek of what lies in store for ice-skating aficionados of all ages when the rink opens on December 20. Click through our photographs of the new center, and make plans to visit it on its opening weekend, December 21-22. (Visit their website for information on hours and admission prices.) In fact, why not make a plan to visit all the city's new ice-skating rinks over winter break? Rinks have opened at Brookfield Place (the former World Financial Center), the South Street Seaport and McCarren Park over the past few weeks, and we're pretty sure all of them are worthy contenders for the best new rink of 2013-14.
