Textile Arts Center Birthday Parties, Greenwich Village

Forget the kinds of crafts made for your fridge door—here, kids are encouraged to go beyond macaroni art and make things they can really use. The Weaving Party introduces kids to a loom, so they can make a colorful, textured cloth. The Printing Party lets them create an original print to transfer to a pillowcase or other item, and the Fiber Jewelry Party teaches them how to make beads and wearable charms. Kids focus on producing art for two hours before enjoying food and cake (parents provide their own, plus drinks and paper goods) and heading home with cool goody bags. Ages 5–14.
