    Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the beloved kids' classic, Madeline, through art, memorabilia and tea at NYHS this summer In honor of the 75th anniversary of the iconic children's tale Madeline, the New-York Historical Society will host an exhibition celebrating the spirited Parisian girl and her creator, Ludwig Bemelmans. "Madeline in New York: The Art of Ludwig Bemelmans," the first exhibition of the author and illustrator's work in over half a century, will run from July 4 to October 13, allowing families to revisit the jeune fille's adventures at boarding school and beyond.     Time Out Kids and the Madison Square Park Conservancy present Spring Kids Fest on May 17—a full day of (free!) family-friendly art, games, performances and more What better time to be a kid than in the spring! The temperatures are rising, flowers are blooming, and soon, Time Out Kids—in partnership with the Madison Square Park Conservancy—will descend upon Madison Square Park with food, performances, arts and crafts, games and more for the 2014 Spring Kids Fest. Round up the crew and head to the bash on Saturday, May 17 from 10:30am–1:30pm for a day of free outdoor fun featuring family-friendly vendors, performers, museums and more.     Celebrate the (gradually!) warming weather at Brooklyn Bridge Park for the season opening of the Ample Hills outpost. The sun is out, flower buds are blooming and one of our favorite signs of spring opens tomorrow: the Ample Hills outpost in Brooklyn Bridge Park! Starting Saturday, April 12, the Brooklyn ice cream institution reopens its seasonal kiosk at Pier 5, where it will operate on weekends until late May, after which it'll be serving sweet treats every day, all summer long.RECOMMENDED: 50 family-friendly spring happenings Post-Memorial Day, Ample Hills will also open two ice cream carts elsewhere in the park: one at Pier 1 and the other at perennial kid-fave Jane's Carousel.There's even more great ice cream–related news (which is, of course, the best kind of news!): Ample Hills is giving away their sweet secrets with a new cookbook launching Tuesday, April 15.
