    Catch a speed-dating event that’s just for moms

    It’s not your average dating event…this one’s just for mothers, and they may leave having made a new best friend WNYC radio, home of The Longest Shortest Time parenting podcast (a top-rated podcast in the iTunes Kids & Family category), is bringing busy moms together for a very special event. On Oct 22 at 7pm, mothers can attend a moms-only speed-dating event in Brooklyn where they'll get to meet NYC mammas free of other distractions. These traditional round-robin-style dates last for three minutes at a time and are followed by one complimentary cocktail and light snacks. After their dates, moms will be sent a list of their matches and contact information so they can keep in touch.     Families can enjoy free seasonal activities (think costume contests and pumpkin-themed crafts) at the annual Fall Kids Fest It's one of our favorite days of the season! On Saturday, October 18, Madison Square Park will host the annual Fall Kids Fest, a day of free, fall fun for families.     Dress up in Western-inspired duds and try your toes at square dancing at a free, family event in Bryant Park Families can add a little Western flair to their weekend at the Bryant Park Square Dance, where the public is invited to practice the traditional dance style on the grassy expanse in Midtown. Though the free event extends throughout the weekend, Sunday, September 21 offers the most kid-friendly offerings. Dress up your clan in country-inspired attire and come by the Bryant Park lawn between 1 and 4pm to let the little ones try out their footwork. Families can do-si-do with guidance from featured caller Dave Harvey, who will prompt the crown with the dance steps.
