An adorable female Indian Rhino calf makes her first public appearance in the Wild Asia section of the Bronx Zoo since her birth in April. Just days after the royal baby was presented to the world in London, another majestic little one is making her public debut, this time in the Wild Asia section of the Bronx Zoo. The female baby Indian rhinoceros, born on April 6 to proud parents Penny and Sanjay, was allowed to romp around her exhibit habitat for the first time on Friday, July 26. The baby girl (whose name has not yet been announced) was a whopping 120 pounds at birth. If you think that’s massive, think again—this hefty herbivore is estimated to be two tons when fully grown! The baby and her parents are three of just 56 Indian rhinos in Association of Zoos and Aquariums–accredited North American zoos, and it's estimated that fewer than 3,000 members of this species remain in the wild, so this birth is definitely something to celebrate! The Public Art Fund's latest outdoor art installation, "Lightness of Being" in City Hall Park, is also one of its most whimsical and kid-friendly. Downtown's City Hall Park has some new residents families will likely want to meet as soon as they can: the 11 delightful, if also enigmatic works by an international array of artists that make up the new exhibition "Lightness of Being," organized by the Public Art Fund. You can enter at any point, of course, but you may want to take the most southerly entrance for maximum effect. There you'll encounter Daniel Buren's Suncatcher, a kaleidoscopic, pergola-like installation that casts colored light onto anything below it if the sun's hitting it right, and Olaf Breuning's The Humans, a humorous and lovable sextet of sculptures that roughly depict the artist's view of human evolution, starting with a primordial blob of a person and ending with a kind of fat cat in a tux with a bronze tail. Just beyond is British artist Gary...

We got a sneak peek at the dress rehearsal of Cirque du Soleil's latest spectacle, Quidam, a tale with dramatic feats and funny moments galore. Cirque du Soleil is back in town to present Quidam, a piece that loosely follows the daydreams of a young girl, this time at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. (The show made its NYC debut at Citi Stadium in Queens this past spring.) Though it may not have much of a plot, it does have some acts that will have you by turns howling with laughter or holding your breath with anticipation. Before the show opened its seven-performance run on Wednesday, July 24, we got a look at the troupe's dress rehearsal. Click through our photos and watch the video below for a sneak peek at what awaits. Just don't wait too long to snag tix (for 25 percent off select seats, click here): The last show is on Sunday, July 28. What do you think? Tell us below!
