    Wed Aug 6

Raise your goblet of rock to this family-friendly show based on the popular film, set to air on Nickelodeon next year Parents who have to drag their kids to piano lessons and hear groans about practicing for that upcoming band recital, just hold tight. Some inspiration for your reluctant young musician is on the way in the form of a School of Rock television series, which will be produced by Paramount TV and picked up by Nickelodeon. RECOMMENDED: Download our August calendar of family events Based on the 2003 feature film of the same name, the 13-episode live-action musical comedy series is set to begin production this fall with a projected premiere in spring of 2015. Dewey Finn (played by Jack Black in the film) will be back in action, posing as a substitute teacher at a refined prep school and passing on his love for rock & roll to his young students. Celebrate National Breastfeeding Month (yes, it’s a thing) by trying out one of these mommy-friendly NYC spots. While New York breastfeeding laws state that moms can breastfeed absolutely anywhere (something we may forget), some moms, especially brand new moms, might appreciate a little bit of privacy. Here are a few places they might find some: Caribou Baby Williamsburg/Greenpoint Caribou Baby's Breastfeeding Support Group for local moms, Evening Prenatal Yoga and La Leche League Meetups make them one of the most mom-friendly places in town. Further, the store offers comfortable seats that are perfect for nursing moms, and while you hang out, you might meet some knowledgeable staff that can give you a pointer or two on baby supplies. 272 Driggs Ave, Brooklyn (347-460-2229, cariboubaby.com) Bedford-Stuyvesant Lactation Center We've written in depth about Bed Stuy's new Lactation Station, and hopefully a few more of these are in the works around the city.
