Last chance for two great exhibits

    Wed Dec 30

If you're looking for a way to fill up the final days of your holiday break, check out the South Street Seaport Museum and the Liberty Science Center . Both museums have awesome, kid-friendly exhibits closing this Sunday, January 3. If your brood's into NYC history, take them to see the Seaport's "The Island at the Center of the World", which shows the Big Apple as a pre-skyscraper, pre-subway colonial village. If your tykes are fans of nature (and-or disaster movies), head to LSC's blockbuster installation, "Nature Unleashed," where volcanoes, tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes take center stage. At either exhibition, both you and your kids are bound to learn something—and have a good time.

Wednesday's pick of the day: Doll & Teddy Bear Party

    Wed Dec 30

Don't leave home without Teddy today! Kids are invited to tote along their favorite doll or stuffed animal to Historic Richmond Town for a grand holiday celebration . Little ones can hang with other NYC kiddos and their teddies while feasting on sweets and listening to stories. The bash costs a cool $8 per tyke—and bears are admitted for free!

Snag tickets to the NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players free kids night

    Tue Dec 29

Before Rogers and Hammerstein, there was Gilbert and Sullivan. And if your musical-theater loving kids have never heard of them, it's time to school them. This month, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players are presenting a number of the pair's operettas at the New York City Center , including The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance . But if you're looking for a deal, we suggest snagging tickets to H.MS. Pinafore . The show is a class-rattling love story between a lowly sailor and the warbling soprano daughter of the boat's captain. Topsy-turvy dancing and catchy tunes propel the lovebirds toward an epic twist. If you purchase an adult ticket for the performance on Tuesday, January 12, you'll receive a free child's ticket (for tykes under 12). Bonus: The kids will receive a special post-performance backstage tour hosted by an onstage character. For tickets, call 212-769-1000.

Tuesday's pick of the day: Family Film Days

    Tue Dec 29

Baby, it's cold outside—which is exactly why you should cozy up with your tots inside the Jewish Museum today for an afternoon of flicks . TV episodes on loan from the National Jewish Archive of Broadcasting will be screened, including selections from Maurice Sendak's Really Rosie and Jim Henson's Muppet Show . Snacks will be served to make the movies that much sweeter.
