Wednesday's pick of the day: Danna Banana Concert

    Wed Jan 27

Tuesday's pick of the day: Downward Doll Yoga

    Tue Jan 26

If your little one can't fathom leaving her favorite plush plaything at home before heading out on the town, Karma Kids' Downward Doll Yoga class is the perfect place to get the family centered. Tiny mats will be handed out for the stuffed companions to use, while your kid learns new poses and postures--and teaches her inanimate bud how to perfect them as well.

Discount to Apple Seeds play space

    Tue Jan 26

While many play spaces offer open play (a real boon in this recession), membership-only spots continue to thrive. With yearly fees averaging in the thousands, the cost can feel pretty daunting, which is why Chelsea's Apple Seeds is offering a sweet deal. New members who sign up before March 31 will get a month free . In addition to access to the indoor playground, you receive additions perks such as discounts on camps and classes, and free passes for your first-time visitors. And if you pay in installments, the $1390 for 13 months doesn't seem so overwhelming (a little over 100 bucks a month). To get more information or to register, visit appleseeds.com .

New York Historical Society to open Children's History Museum

    Mon Jan 25

The New York Historical Society has just announced that it will open a brand-new interactive children's history museum thanks to a $5 million donation from Joseph A. and Diana DiMenna. Giving other kid-friendly institutions like the Tenement Museum and the Brooklyn Children's Museum a run for their money, the center (see rendering at left) will encourage children to learn about and reenact the experiences of young New Yorkers from different time periods. Situated in a vaulted space on the lower level of the Society's Upper West Side building, it will feature permanent and special exhibitions filled with artifacts, interactive elements, illustrations and more. The opening is slated for November 2011—and we're already counting down the days!
