Enter to win Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days on DVD

    Mon Nov 2

It seems like NYC's gone nutty for Sesame Street . In honor of the iconic kids' show's 40th season (do you feel as old as us?), there's an upcoming exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library , prominently featuring the new book, Sesame Street: A Celebration of 40 Years of Life on the Street ; a new Sesame Street Live stage show hitting MSG in February; and a retrospective DVD, Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days , chronicling four decades of top-notch edutainment. Time Out Kids is getting in on the celebration with two cool giveaways: Enter to win a family four-pack of tickets to see Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up and try to snag one of five copies of the new Sunny Days DVD. Nothing better than free stuff to chase "the clouds away..."

Monday's pick of the day: Corduroy screening

    Mon Nov 2

Didn't know that Don Freeman's classic tale about a department store-dwelling teddy bear had been adapted into a film? Neither did we. Today, your brood can watch the live-action short based on the tome, followed by A Pocket for Corduroy , a "sequel" to the original, in which Corduroy is forgotten in a laundromat and must find his way home.

Egg by Susan Lazar comes to Dumbo

    Mon Nov 2

A number of the shops we profile in Time Out Kids sell onesies and booties from Egg by Susan Lazar , so we were excited to hear that the company opened up its very own retail shop in Dumbo . The boutique carries baby and toddler clothing and accessories, maternity gear, organic crib bedding, diaper bags and more. The line is also especially popular with celeb parents— Jennifer Garner 's daughter Seraphina was photographed in an Egg hat and Katherine Heigl 's daughter Naleigh was caught wearing a striped dress from the line. The store will host workshops such as prenatal nutrition for parents and parents-to-be.

What to do this weekend: Oct 31-Nov 1 event picks

    Sat Oct 31

We're lucky enough to have Halloween on a Saturday this year (yay!). Unfortunately, rain may be in the forecast (boo!). Fret not, little Frankensteins: We've got plenty of outdoor and indoor options so you can celebrate the holiday no matter what tricks Mother Nature may have in store. If you're looking to stay inside, check out the Brooklyn Children's Museum's Monster Mash Party Nights both this evening and tomorrow (only $10!). However, lots of completely free events abound: The Winter Garden at the World Financial Center transforms into a haunted house on Saturday, while Tribeca hot spot Moomah treats families to plenty of spooky fun. Looking for some fresh air? Prospect Park holds a big festival of creepy activities, or head to a participating zoo or aquarium for their ghastly gatherings throughout the weekend. But what's Halloween without a parade? There's more than just the blowout in the Village; check out processions in Park Slope ...
