This holiday season, for the first time since we can remember, New York City has not two but three holiday train shows for families to check out. Joining the NYBG's Holiday Train Show and the New York Transit Museum's train show in Grand Central Station is "Holiday Express: Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection," the first-ever museum exhibit of one of the most renowned toy train collections in the world; it opens at the New-York Historical Society on Friday, November 23. We got a sneak peak at the show and wanted to share our pics with you before it makes its debut. Click through our slide show to see model trains (they're stationary, by the way), train stations, bridges and tunnels, and such charming details as Ferris wheels and carousels—all handcrafted in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Populating each of the tableaux (most of which are behind Plexiglas) are toy figurines outfitted in 19th-century garb, plus details like miniature dogs and baby carriages, that are bound to captivate your children's attention as much as your own. Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving!

"Holiday Express: Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection" will be on view at the New-York Historical Society from Friday, November 23, to Sunday, January 6.
