Live, from the New York Comic Con, it's Friday afternoon!
Fri Feb 6 2009
OK kids...or should I say parents? I'm not sure how many of you are geeks like I am (see photo to the left), but I for one am totally psyched about the fourth annual New York Comic Con ! The name truly is a misnomer: It's actually a pop-culture con, with tons of merchandise, panels and guests from TV, film and books. While I plan to hit the Jacob Javits Center all three days (it's the one time of year the out-of-the-way location of the Time Out office comes in handy for me), Sunday is Kids Day, and there are a ton of events to make children of all ages happy. We did a cute little preview in the mag , but just to give you a quick rundown of highlights: - Meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (yes, live in person!) - Meet author Mo Willems, the author of neo-classic kids' lit such as Knuffle Bunny and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! - A performance by the cast of the new Electric Company - A kids' costume contest (my daughter's going as Ariel...just like last year) - A kids' comics workshop - Sneak peeks at upcoming TV shows ( Aaron Stone) and movies (Pixar's UP , which looks insanely cool) - A lot of crap...er, sorry, stuff to buy! Best of all: Kids' under 12 get in free! As of now, you can still buy tickets for Sunday online (although Saturday is sold out). If you see me, say hello!
