Some Chinese Parents Would Prefer to Put Dancing Babies in the Corner

Dance classes in schools might seem like a fun an efficient way to fight child obesity through exercise—but in China, where in-school dance lessons were made a compulsory part of the curriculum, parents are protesting.
According to a
Reuters
report on Friday, some Chinese parents worry that the physical contact involved in couples dancing might unnecessarily encourage puppy love. Physical exercise is positive, they say, but excessive contact with the opposite sex should be prevented. One parent recommended cock-fighting and sandbag-tossing as alternatives, while others would favor swimming and martial arts.
