As if you needed further incentive to spend a day at the zoo, a chance to do good while there makes the decision even easier. From now through Monday, December 31, the Wildlife Conservation Society is hosting a toy drive to benefit veterans, active-duty members of the military and their families, as well as victims of Hurricane Sandy. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, or the New York Aquarium (aquarium donations will be accepted at Tom’s Diner in Coney Island since the institution is currently closed) and watch as your tot gets that giving-back-glow. An added bonus: doing good will earn you a little something in return—for each toy you bring to one of the five locations, you’ll receive one free ticket to the Bronx Zoo. Seems like a win-win to us.
