Polyglot Theatre: Tangle

As part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors fest, Australian children's theater troupe Polyglot is setting up the makings of a messy web of fun called Tangle. Part interactive performance, part art installation, Tangle gets kids and their families busy creating, playing inside and, well, getting tangled up in a bouncy, colorful web made of giant elastic bands wrapped around a small forest of vertical poles. The Polyglot "Weavers" help facilitate kids' ideas and intentions, while a changing soundtrack, which goes from circus music to techno blips and bleeps, inspires mood swings that in turn affect the array of designs created. Note that although the installation will be on view for four days (evenings included), families may only interact with Tangle during session times.

If you plan to visit on Saturday, July 28, check out other events that will be a part of : From Chinatown with Love is a breathtaking acrobatic show performed by the Chinese American Arts Council Acrobatic Group that will dazzle young viewers (and their parents) with supernatural athleticism, gravity-defying routines and eye-catching aesthetics (Sat July 28 at 2, 3:30pm). And if you want to unwind with some old-fashioned circus laughs and cheers, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus stops by for some tricks and thrills: Sword swallowers, jugglers, clowns, wire walkers and more will remind you what the circus is all about (Sat July 28 at 2:30, 4pm).

Tangle takes place Thu July 26 at 2, 3, 4pm; Fri July 27 at 2, 3, 4pm; Sat July 28 at 11am, noon, 2, 3, 4pm; Sun July 29 at 10, 11am, noon, 2, 3, 4pm. Lincoln Center, Josie Robertson Plaza. The Lincoln Center Out of Doors Family Day takes place at Hearst Plaza and Josie Robertson Plaza on Saturday, July 28, from 11am to 5pm. Both are free. All ages.
