Shea Stadium
Clubs in Manhattan and Williamsburg may get the big headliners, but this all-ages space in Bushwick is one of the best spots in the city to see up-and-coming local indie-rockers. (The venue counts the Beets, Japanther, Titus Andronicus and No Joy among its past performers.) Shows start on the early side, but often continue into the wee hours. 20 Meadow St between Bogart and Waterbury Sts, Bushwick, Brooklyn (liveatsheastadium.com). Showtimes vary.

Gotham City Lounge
Those looking to hole up for a few hours and nurse a beer (or five) would do well to stop by this comic-book-themed bar, the walls of which are decked out with a geekworthy collection of superhero memorabilia. On Tuesdays, take advantage of the ridiculously cheap drink special: Well drinks are $4, and cans of PBR go for a buck. 1293 Myrtle Ave between Cedar St and Central Ave, Bushwick, Brooklyn (718-387-4182). Daily 5pm--4am.

Goodbye Blue Monday
Relax while reveling in this drinkery's distinct junkyard aesthetic (the walls are lined with old books, random lamps and retro radios). An eclectic group of acts play here, ranging from antifolk to experimental jazz, and best of all, gigs are always free—and often go past midnight. 1087 Broadway at Dodworth St, Bushwick, Brooklyn (718-453-6343, goodbye-blue-monday.com). Mon--Thu, Sun 11:30am--2am; Fri, Sat 11:30am--3am.
