Time Out says

Noted for his deeply engaged portrait photography (his subjects include President Obama), Bey went to Birmingham, AL, for his latest series, which recalls the KKK’s vicious 1963 bombing of one of the city’s black churches, which resulted in the deaths of four young girls. The sitters in these images—all residents—include children who are the same age the deceased were, and adults who are the age the victims would have been had they lived.
