Eberhard Havekost, "COPY + OWNERSHIP"

Havekost's photo-base paintings are notable for the way they sometimes veer into abstraction, and in his latest works, the German artist contemplates the tension between originality and appropriation with 15 canvases borrowing from such disparate sources as color swatches, documents of atomic tests and images taken from flat-screen TVs.
