Photographer Sophie Gamand has been shooting images of man’s best friend for almost four years because, she says, “dogs mirror us and say a lot about our own solitude and the challenges we face in the human society." The French native (@SophieGamand), who lives and works in New York, has trained her camera on stray canines in Puerto Rico, and most recently on dogs fresh out of the bath, and looking none too pleased about it. “Dogs hate bath time,” she observes, and while that may sound like a big duh!, the results got the attention of the judges for this year’s Sony World Photography Awards, who gave her the prize in portraiture.

You can look at some of the images here, and, if you like what you see, you can head over to the artist’s online store, and buy one to take home for yourself. The best part is, you’ll never need to wash them.
