This major museum-quality survey of the midcentury Italian avant-gardist covers the past 20 years of his career, and includes some 70 examples of his "Concetto Spaziale," or "Spatial Concept" paintings, which feature slashed and punctured canvases. More eye-opening, though, are his "Ambienti Spaziali"—walk-in spatial environments that have never before been exhibited in this country. Featuring black-light fixtures and Day-Glo painted objects, these installations are retro-futuristically trippy.
