Marsha Cotrell

Assuming it's an accomplishment, anyone who thinks Wade Guyton "reinvented" Minimalist painting by using digital printers might want to consider the career of this artist. Concurrent with Guyton in the late 1990s, Cotrell began to experiment with printers, yielding severely formal—and quite beautiful—black-and-white abstractions. The proof is in this show, her first in New York in 10 years.
