Time Out says

Hatoum, who was born in Beirut to a Palestinian family, has spent her career in London, where she first arrived in the mid-1970s to escape the civil war raging in Lebanon at the time. Since then, her sculptures, installations and videos have evoked the particulars of her biography, especially her life as an exile. In a similar vein, her new installation comprises a series of Oriental carpets hung from clotheslines, suggesting, perhaps, some sort of laundering of the past to create a fresh start.
