In what should be something of an eye-opener for New York viewers, Hauser & Wirth presents a survey of works by the Gutai Art Association, a group of about 20 young artists formed in the aftermath of Japan's devastating defeat in World War II. Mixing elements of Pop, AbEx and Minimalism, Gutai reached its high point in the mid-1960s, producing objects that remain remarkably fresh today. Definitely a must-see for dedicated gallerygoers.
