Caminito Chef-owner Fabian Manca (Buenos Aires, Pampa) looks south for culinary inspiration at this Argentine steakhouse in Spanish Harlem, but his menu stays closer to home: He sources the carne from Austin Meat Market in the Bronx. 1664 Park Ave between 117th and 118th Sts (212-289-1343)
P.J’s Steak House Forest Hill–billies with a yen for red meat can get their fill at this upscale steakhouse. A menu touting a range of prime aged beef and Irish-inflected dishes—like a Guinness-braised short-rib turnover—was designed by chef Paul Grunkorn (of Bistro 22 in Westchester). 73-11 Yellowstone Blvd at Ingram St, Forest Hills, Queens (718-544-5757)
Pacific Pizza The closing of a dingy Smith Street pizza joint has made way for this upscale pie-mecca from the folks behind Pacifico. Chef-owner Richard Krause (Café Luxumbourg) will apply his two years at the original Spago to his West Coast–inspired menu. Come brunch, expect a take on the classic Puck pie: smoked salmon, crème fraîche and golden caviar. 98 Smith St between Atlantic and Pacific Sts, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (718-935-9545)
Tamboril It was a strip club first, then a porn shop: Now, this once-tawdry Clinton Hill locale is a 100-seat nuevo Latino eatery. First-time restaurateur Ed Polanco channels his native Dominican Republic via chef Yvette James (Negril). Look out for eats like cod fritters with mint-mango sauce. 527 Myrtle Ave between Grand and Steuben Sts, Clinton Hill, Brooklyn (718-622-5130)
