at Core 191 on Tue 4.

    SUN 2 GARDEN OF EATIN’
It’s rare for potluck-throwers to invite the entire city, but that’s what’s happening at a community garden in the Bronx. Dishes aren’t set, but there’s a strong local Puerto Rican presence, so cross your fingers for barbecued pork or asopao, a gumbolike chicken-and-rice dish. DJs will be rockin’ the garden all day long—bring something to share. FREE Labor Day Potluck. El Flamboyan Community Garden, 580 Tinton Ave at 150th St, Bronx. 2–8pm. For more info, visit greenthumbnyc.org.

    MON 3 GO WEST (INDIAN)
The West Indian–American Day Carnival is an annual extravaganza of dancing, glittery headpieces, and standout Jamaican and Trinidadian food. Vendors along the route will ply you with grub like callaloo (root-vegetable-and-pork soup) and jerk chicken for about $5 a dish. West Indian–American Day Carnival. Eastern Pkwy between Utica Ave and Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn. 8am–6pm. For more info or directions, visit wiadca.org.

    TUE 4 SCREEN CUISINE
LES tapas joint Core 191 continues its summerlong Tuesday night screening series with the silent 1925 edition of Cyrano de Bergerac. Cinephiles can grab a table or seat on the brick-walled patio and order refreshments for the show. Reservations are required (mention TONY). FREE Core 191 Cinema Night. Core 191, 191 Orchard St between E Houston and Stanton Sts. 8:30pm. For more info or to make reservations, call 212-228-9888.

    WED 5 SWEET 15
So you’re cheap. We are too. That’s why this ICE class on choosing the best $15 wines is right up our alleys. Resident sommelier Ron Ciavolino reveals his ten picks (mostly European selections), which will be served with fruit and cheese. Reservations are required (mention TONY). Great Wines for Under $15. Institute of Culinary Education, 50 W 23rd St between Sixth Ave and Broadway. 7–9pm. For more info, call 800-522-4610 or visit iceculinary.com. $75.
