Clover Club This Victorian-styled cocktail parlor from mixology matriarch Julie Reiner (Flatiron Lounge) joins Weather Up and Hotel Delmano among Brooklyn’s spate of newly opened serious drinkeries. Classic cocktails are the thing: Sours, fizzes, mules, swizzles and smashes all get their latter-day due at the 19th-century mahogany bar, reclaimed from a Pennsylvania coal miners’ haunt. Highbrow snacks (fried oysters, steak tartare) and tipples, like a Market Street Julep (pisco, pineapple and mint) or the ginger-packed Pimms Punch, should absolve you of the folly of your appletini days.
210 Smith St between Baltic and Butler Sts, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (718-855-7939)
The Stumble Inn Co-owner Danny Thomases, whose other drinking establishments include the Gin Mill and Jake’s Dilemma, replaced what was once his UES stalwart Mo’s Caribbean with this spacious, drunks-welcome boozerie. Stumble’s lineup of 14 standard drafts (they include Bud, Guinness and Blue Moon) will go down that much easier when paired with a bacon and cheddar–stuffed burger from the junk-food–leaning bar menu. Come by on a Monday night for one-buck drafts, available from 7pm until close. 1454 Second Ave at 76th St (212-650-0561)
