Tribeca  |  Soho  |  Nolita  |  Lower East Side  |  East Village

    Character
Collectible Tintin, Babar and Le Petit Prince figurines share this small offbeat space with everything from modern outdoor furnishings to offbeat wall hangings. Please aspiring photographers with Holga cameras ($80) and design snobs with Tord Boontje curtains ($115) and Japanese toys. 19 Prince St between Elizabeth and Mott Sts (212-274-1966)

    Dinosaur Designs
Though diamonds are supposedly a girl’s best friend, the sculptural resin jewelry at this Aussie boutique is worth cultivating a new relationship with. Scoop up bangles in sea-glass–like shades ($70–$145) and chunky, faceted rings ($50–$75). The luminous material can also transform ho-hum tables via cobalt-hued dinner plates ($90) and tangerine serving spoons ($95). 250 Mott St between E Houston and Prince Sts (212-680-3523)

    Gates of Morocco
Ornate lanterns crafted out of tin ($175), intricately dyed rugs ($35–$295), colorful pottery ($110–$3,500) and handworked leather poufs ($45–$275) fill this darkly lit space, which prides itself on selling goods that are all crafted by Moroccan artisans. 8 Prince St between Bowery and Elizabeth St (212-925-2650)

    Lafco NY/Santa Maria Novella
Pass through the ornate iron doors for a sanctuary of chichi shampoos, perfumes and candles from more-than-600-year-old Italian beauty company Santa Maria Novella. The boutique—bedecked with dark-wood tables and iron pillars—feels like a reliquary for such coveted luxuries as pomegranate bath soaps ($25), soothing bath kits first created by a Dominican friar ($13) and vetiver-scented cologne ($96)—all wrapped in beautiful paper and lovely retro boxes. 285 Lafayette St between E Houston and Prince Sts (212-925-0001)

    Marchand des Legumes
This Tokyo-based company offers a not particularly well-organized colorful selection of quirky toys, furniture, home accessories and odd knickknacks from Japan and around the world. Find neon clocks, retro trays, ballerina flats and even a talking watch. 252 Elizabeth St between E Houston and Prince Sts (212-965-1954)
