    Time Out New York / Issue 634 : Nov 22–28, 2007

    Present sense: Manhattan

    NYC’s 90 best gift-bloated stores

By Rachel LeWinter and Helen Yun

    Tribeca

Tribeca  |  Soho  |  Nolita  |  Lower East Side  |  East Village
    West Village  |  Meatpacking District/Chelsea  |  Gramercy-Flatiron
Midtown  |  Upper West Side  |  Upper East Side  |  Harlem

    Tribbles
Dedicated to a rare species—the NYC gardener—this new eco-conscious, atrium-like space accounts for the tastes of those with blacker thumbs, too, providing picks such as ornate candelabras ($120), corkscrews crafted out of beach wood ($90) and lime-green bud vases ($52). They also offer stunning floral arrangements featuring loads of exotic orchids and architectural topiaries. 217 West Broadway between Franklin and White Sts (212-965-8480)

    Working Class
Nestled among Duane Street’s pricey antique furnishing shops, this ad-agency-cum-gift-emporium devotes its ground floor to an eccentric array of picnic baskets, striped Paul Smith scarves ($135–$295), antique plates, Lulu Guinness compacts inset with cameos ($126), antique perfume bottles ($35–$1,600) and British school satchels in a rainbow of shades ($295). 168 Duane St between Greenwich and Hudson Sts (212-941-1199)
