Who they are National socialism, a.k.a. Nazism, was the party of Adolf Hitler. The local incarnation traces its roots back to Camp Siegfried, a pro-Nazi summer camp that opened in 1936 in Yaphank, Long Island. Now part of a national organization based in Minneapolis, the New York chapter doesn’t stage events in NYC but members wear swastika armbands, participate in out-of-state rallies and dream of an all-Aryan America. The head of the NSM, John Taylor Bowles, is running for President in ’08.

Who they hate Party membership is open to all heterosexual white non-Jews. Everyone else is considered mentally and physically inferior. The party does not advocate death camps and denies the Holocaust happened.

Why they hate They are committed, as Hitler was, to the supposed genetic superiority of the Aryan race. In American politics, they rail against issues like illegal immigration and welfare.

Hot quote “All nonwhite immigration must be prevented. We demand that all nonwhites currently residing in America be required to leave the nation forthwith and return to their land of origin: peacefully or by force.”

Women for Aryan Unity

Who they are Women, teen girls and World Church of the Creator expats dedicated to “reinventing the concept of ‘feminism’ within the parameters of Race and Revolution.” The group hosts a worldwide Aryan Baby Drive, which gathers donations for white babies in need; sends homemade Christmas cards to jailed skinheads; and distributes hate literature dotted with cupcake recipes. Group heroines include Eva Braun and Winifred Wagner.

Who they hate Us. In familiar neo-Nazi rhetoric, the WAU describes the media as being controlled by Jews.

Why they hate Made up of “skinheads and ex-skinheads,” the group claims to hate no one, but rather exhibit concern over the welfare of the “beloved white race.”

Hot quote “Surely, no one in the movement is naive enough to believe a peaceful takeover is possible. This leaves only one other method to regain control over our destiny, and that is through and by direct (violent) action.”

The Pioneer Fund

Who they are It was launched in 1937 to “promote the genetic stock of the original white settlers of America,” according to civil-rights expert Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center. The Lexington Avenue–headquartered Fund provides research dollars to scientists whose work shows a connection between race and intelligence. Current president J. Philippe Rushton has provoked widespread debate with his theory that smaller penis size is directly related to increased intelligence.

Who they hate The Fund doesn’t advocate violence but backs research used by groups that do. As The New York Times’ Bob Herbert notes, it once urged the government to give up on integrating public schools because “raising the intelligence of blacks ... remains beyond our capabilities.”

Why they hate The Fund’s work takes place under the pretext of “scientific research,” but its founder, Wickliffe Draper, believed that all blacks should be sent to Africa.

Hot quote “East Asians ... average a larger brain size, greater intelligence, more sexual restraint, a slower rate of maturation, and greater levels of law abidingness and social organization than do Europeans ... and Africans.”

Council of Conservative Citizens

Who they are A direct descendent of the white citizens’ councils of the 1960s, which were formed to oppose the racial integration of public schools, the CofCC is one of America’s largest hate groups, boasting an estimated 15,000 members. The percentage of New Yorkers is unknown, but Mark Potok says it’s “more than you’d think.” Most notably, Senator Trent Lott (R-MS) was lambasted for endorsing the CofCC.

Who they hate The group’s vitriol is mostly directed against blacks, originally in the South and now nationwide. Its website points out “shocking statistics” showing that blacks are “nine times more likely to commit murder than whites.”

Why they hate Potok refers to the CofCC as “old-line segregationists” of the South. Even utterly conservative voters, he says, have rejected the CofCC’s racist platform.
